Sunnshine

Releases: Upcoming album 17.10.2005 in Europe

It's a mistake to lump the rock group Sunnshine in with most of today's metal bands. Though the group plays a bone-crunchingly loud version of distortion-driven rock `n roll, they've always considered themselves more of a southern-rock band.

The brand of rock `n roll that Sunnshine perform bears a working resemblance to their musical influences, early metal bands like Black Sabbath and Iron Butterfly. It's an important distinction, one that is lost on much of today's metal audience. Most of the heavy bands in this millenium depend on costumes, make-up, and concept albums to make themselves appealing, Sunnshine relies completely on their music to captivate audiences.

Singer Joe Deleon, guitarists Bill Storms and Jeff Srsic, drummer Kevin White, and bassist Josh Kayer have patiently assembled themselves into a tough-minded rock `n roll band, one whose lyrics matter as much as the sheer force of their Marshall Amp-enforced attack.

Sunnshine formed in 1995, following the demise of Kayer's previous band 454. The group has gigged throughout the eastern United States, playing such diverse venues as The Sunnyside Music Garden and The Dropshop (both in West Virginia), Alive (Raleigh, NC), Mayo Island (Richmond, VA), and Shaft (Columbia, SC). Successful touring has led to Sunnshine sharing gigs with such noted bands as Clutch, Machine Head, The Atomic Bitchwax, Buzz-Oven, Stuck Mojo, Kepone, and Karma To Burn.

Sunnshine have recorded several CDs of original material and have recently completed a 5-song E.P.. Jeff Rabhan, Michael Goldberg, Joe Belliotti, and Kevin Held are now sharing management duties for the band as they continue to tour the eastern United States.
